northcote project

Working within the walls of a home designed to engulf the outdoors and its surroundings, By Bruno’s brief was to revive the wet areas of the home along with an ensuite walk in robe and custom joinery, inject warmth and a sense of calm throughout. Working with the clients practical concerns first, By bruno developed spaces that were highly tailored spatially, had significant storage, were easy to maintain and ensured each area was carefully designed for maximum functionality.

Given the overall existing industrial feel of the home, our clients wanted to incorporate an overall classic, warm yet artistic welcoming feel throughout the spaces, whilst also maximising light. The hero of these spaces are the stunning Italian white porcelain floor tiles that have a striking cobalt blue aggregate mixed throughout, emulating terrazzo.

Being constantly on the go and travelling the globe, there were many design considerations incorporated for this lifestyle, such as the lower storage robe drawers which also doubles as an area to place luggage and pack for the next morning’s flight. Directly above this space, hooks were also installed for suit and coat storage.

The customised ensuite shaving cabinets have internal power outlets to allow for charging of shavers and electric toothbrushes out of sight, complete with mood lighting for indulging in a long bath in their ensuite at the end of a long day.

The custom white oval mirror in the walk in robe was created to tie in with the adjoining ensuite, with the shape of the mirror echoing the oval double vanities and shape of the bath, thus creating a relationship and connection between the spaces.

Contrasting tapware makes a statement, while the tiled skirting around the edge of the rooms is a small yet powerful symbol of the level of design detail executed throughout this project.
